Welcome to ‘The Granite City!’ Aberdeen, the capital city of the Grampian Highlands, is also the third largest city in Scotland. Being a major service base for the extraction of crude oil in the North Sea, the city is also often referred to as the Oil Capital of Europe. Aberdeen surely has a special flavor; what with its magical air, spellbinding skyline made of luminous granite buildings and an old town that will remind you of long, bygone eras.

The chief commercial center and seaport in the north-east of Scotland, Aberdeen offers a tremendous range of first class restaurants, museums, and an exciting nightlife combined with a vibrant cultural calendar and shops galore. Most of the city stands between the mouths of rivers Don and Dee; and wherever you turn there is splendor! 

Aberdeen features vast empty beaches that are interspersed with scenic fishing villages and amazing cliff top scenery. Taking a walk on the sandy shores and cliffs of the dramatic Aberdeen coastline is an experience out of the ordinary. But then, so is the world’s only Malt Whisky Trail in this city! First time visitors will also enjoy following the Castle Trail with its many beautiful gardens. In fact even those that frequent Aberdeen love to re-explore the trail and the ever-changing spectacles that accompany it. Not surprisingly, Aberdeen has actually long been famed for its terrific parks, gardens and floral displays that include some two million roses, eleven million daffodils, and three million crocuses. The city has even won the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom contest many times.

For a break from all the flora and fauna, you might want to hit the ski slopes in Aberdeen or play on a championship golf course. To add a soundtrack to your visit, you can enjoy the live music scene at a variety of venues, including pubs, clubs, and a number of churches which feature excellent choirs.
